Things have been strained between Steven Tyler and his Aerosmith bandmates ever since he decided to take a brief hiatus and pursue a solo career in country music. Joe Perry has been especially vocal about Tyler’s musical transition, dismissing Tyler’s songs and admitting he’s not into them.

In mid-February, Perry spoke with USA Today, and shared that he wasn’t digging Tyler’s country vibes. “Hey, if I didn’t know him when I heard the song I’d go, ‘It’s okay, next,’” he said.
TMZ caught Tyler deplaning at LAX, and shared Perry’s comments with the singer. Tyler took it all in stride. “[That’s] how they are,” he responded. “That’s why I’m doing a country record. It’s all right. You know what? Jealousy runs deep in this family.”
If that sounds like the rumblings of a growing band beef, hang tight. When asked if things were all good between him and Perry, Tyler assured, “Oh, yeah. He’s doing what he’s doing and I do what I do.” Not exactly the most promising sign for future Aerosmith music, but perhaps cooler heads will prevail in the long run.
Tyler hasn’t announced a release date for his country project yet, but it’s said to be due out later in 2016.
